Two rooms. Two beds. Two, who want to go to sleep. Shake the pillow again. Lights out! Good night! And then: Not being able to fall asleep! What now?
Tiring boredom makes the imagination fly: what’s that noise? At dusk, things develop a life of their own; they are there, gone, and there again, only to disappear as quickly as they returned. The boundaries of reality seem to be shifting. What if the toy box suddenly had magical abilities and there was another world right on its other side? And if so, what do I do with the what I’ll find? First of all: Say »Hello!«

»Splikifant« – a combination of the Georgian and German words for »elephant« – is a co-production for children, created by international cooperation. In a playfully comedic and musical way it deals with the known and the foreign daily routines, with the insistence on »Mine!« and »Yours!« and the curious trial and acceptance of another culture.

In German and Georgian.

The production is supported by the International Co-Production Fund of the Goethe Institute.

Premiere: 13 April 2019

International guest performances: Nodar Dumbadze Professional State Youth Theatre, Tbilisi, Georgia in December 2018
